Dr. Shermak has treated many Baltimore Congenital Breast Asymmetry patients. Please read more about what to expect from the procedure below.
What is Congenital Breast Asymmetry Surgery?
Some women’s breasts develop asymmetrically. One may be small and one may be large or sag. There may be a tubular appearance to the breast shape. Surgical correction can help women as early as their teen years to improve symmetry and shape of the breasts. Techniques include breast lift or breast reduction, and breast augmentation. Surgery is individualized, and Dr. Shermak will meet with you to discuss all options that may benefit the patient.
Who is a good candidate for Congenital Breast Asymmetry Surgery?
Good candidates are young women in their teens to women later in life who desire better breast symmetry and shape.
What is the recovery like for Congenital Breast Asymmetry Surgery?
Surgery is often performed as an outpatient. One may experience temporary discomfort, swelling, or numbness. Most women resume light activity within a week and drive within 10 days. More exertional activity should wait for one month.
