Breast Lift (Mastopexy) in Baltimore Maryland
What is Breast Lift?
A Breast lift tightens sagging breast tissue and re-centers a descended nipple position on the breast. The goal is to achieve rejuvenated, perkier breasts that may no longer require support of a bra! Breast lift may be performed in conjunction with Breast Augmentation with Breast Implants or Fat Grafting to improve fullness and cleavage. Incisions associated with a breast lift range from under the breast, to peri-areolar, to ‘lollipop,’ to ‘anchor’ shaped incisions, depending on presentation and patient tolerance for scar. Breast Lift surgery may be combined with Abdominoplasty or Liposuction to rejuvenate and improve the overall contour of the torso.
Who is a good candidate for Breast Lift?
Good candidates for a breast lift are women in good health, non-smokers, who have breast sagging or deflation due to age, pregnancy, heredity or significant weight loss. A breast lift is also nice to pursue during Breast Implant Revision Surgery. During the initial consultation you will discuss with Dr. Shermak what you would like to improve so she can understand your expectations and determine how to best achieve the desired result. Breast lift surgery is customized to your desires and needs.
What is the recovery like for Breast Lift Surgery?
Surgery is performed as an outpatient. One may experience temporary discomfort, swelling, or numbness. Most women resume regular activities and return to low impact activity after 1-2 weeks. Heavy exercise and lifting are discouraged for a month.
