Why Dr. Shermak Loves Breast Augmentation and the Motiva Implant

One of my favorite procedures to perform is Breast Augmentation. I love the predictability in outcomes and how well worked out this procedure is. My patients take part in a very comprehensive discussion prior to surgery at the consultation so that they fully understand the procedure. I pay particular attention to achieving the size goals desired with an interactive sizing session at that time. I love that the FDA, breast implant companies, board-certified plastic surgeons, and patients have all worked hand-in-hand to optimize the safety of this procedure. The most recent addition to the Breast Augmentation field as of September 2024 is the FDA approval of Motiva implants, the newest generation of gel implants available.
Why am I so excited about these implants? First, I appreciate having the ability to offer all kinds of options to my patients so that they can make the best decision for themselves and check all the boxes. I enjoy having many tools in my tool belt to allow my patients the best opportunity in reaching their goals. The Motiva implant is particularly “bougie.” It’s a cohesive gummy bear gel implant that has excellent long-term outcomes and safety profile. The implants come in 2 flavors: a nice full round implant, as well as one that is more anatomically shaped(they do cost several hundred dollars more than our standard gel implants). I have sample implants on hand so patients can understand the feel of each type of implant and can make their best choice. So far, our patients who have undergone Motiva breast implant augmentation have been really happy! The implants provide a really nice, full, fresh look. Of course, size outcome will vary depending upon how full the patient desires to be.
Surgery is performed in my office surgery center and is completed in almost 1 hour. Postoperative downtime is minimal, with my patients showering the next day and driving within days of surgery.
