How does Restylane Lyft work?

Restylane Lyft (formerly referred to as Perlane-L), is FDA-approved for facial sculpting and cheek enhancement. It relies on the power of hyaluronic acid, an organic compound found naturally in the human body that is responsible for moisturizing and plumping the skin.

Restylane Lyft also comes with added lidocaine, a topical anesthetic that makes for a painless, comfortable patient experience without requiring additional anesthesia. The Restylane Lyft particles are larger than with other dermal fillers, and the injection targets the deeper layers of skin. The result is a more malleable filler that can achieve subtle, nuanced changes in the appearance.

What can I expect from the procedure?

The Restylane Lyft treatment takes anywhere from 20-40 minutes on average, so it is easy to come into the office over your lunch break and return to work or other activities afterwards. Total treatment time will depend naturally on the number of injections administered during your session.

While Restylane Lyft has a built-in numbing agent, if you require additional pain relief, Dr. Shermak is happy to accommodate you and can provide another topical anesthetic or an ice pack. Most clients find the injections are over before they are aware they’ve received them, and discomfort is virtually non-existent.

Dr. Shermak will target the deeper fat pads in the cheeks to naturally augment the area. With her finely tuned eye for aesthetic harmony and balance, she is able to insert the needles with impeccable precision.

Who is a good candidate for Restylane Lyft?

Patients must be at least 21 years of age, and in good health, both mentally and physically. Expectations for results should be realistic, with improvement rather than perfection as the goal. Because Restylane Lyft is based on hyaluronic acid, a biocompatible compound, few patients experience adverse reactions.

How soon can I see my results?

With Restylane Lyft, you will see improvement in hollowed cheeks and smile lines right away. The filler takes action immediately. If you do have some minor swelling or redness after your injection, it might take a few hours to see your final results. To avoid undue swelling, it’s best to abstain from taking aspirin, smoking or drinking alcohol before your procedure.

How long will my results last?

While results will vary from client to client, most enjoy long-lasting improvement with Restylane Lyft. Total effectiveness may last up to 18 months for some. For longer term benefits, Dr. Shermak can repeat your treatment at regular intervals. Be sure to attend follow-up sessions with the doctor, during which she can advise you on whether additional Restylane Lyft injections are needed to achieve your ideal look.

COVID-19 Update 03/15/2022

This is a new day, with new safety protocols. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and respect the continued concerns COVID-19 may present.

The state of Maryland is now fortunately downgraded to Yellow Status. COVID stress on the medical system has lessened and most areas in the state no longer mandate masks.

Currently in our office we are maintaining sterile surfaces and compulsive cleaning protocols – as always. We are requesting information about vaccination status, to particularly better help us prepare for patients interested in surgical procedures.

We are not mandating masks. We do respect our patients’ wishes and will wear a mask when requested to do so. We want our patients to be absolutely comfortable. All of our staff are vaccinated.

This is certainly an evolving issue and we will continue to pivot as COVID statistics change – hopefully for the better! Thank you!
